🎓 Senior Walk 2026 🎓

Today our Class of 2026 graduates took part in one of our most meaningful traditions—the Senior Walk! 💙💛

Wearing their caps and gowns, our seniors walked the halls of Hawkins Middle School before heading out on buses to visit Sand Hill Elementary, Belfair Elementary, and Grapeview School—revisiting the places where their educational journey began.

A special thank you to Grapeview School for sending a bus to pick up the seniors who once walked your halls—we truly appreciate your support in making this day so special!

This tradition is one of our favorites, inspiring students of all ages to dream big, work hard, and graduate. It was especially heartwarming to see younger siblings watching their older brothers and sisters walk by in their caps and gowns—what a powerful moment! ❤️

Congratulations to our seniors—you are inspiring the future! 🎉

Graduation is tomorrow at 7pm at Phil Pugh Stadium.

🎉 Future Huskies on Campus! 🐾

Last week, Hawkins Middle School was thrilled to welcome our incoming 5th graders from Belfair Elementary and Sand Hill Elementary School!

Before their visits, Mr. Hackett and Mr. Davis traveled to both elementary schools to answer questions, calm any nerves, and give students a sneak peek of what middle school life is all about.

During their time at Hawkins, students toured the campus, met teachers, explored the classes they offer, and even had the chance to work alongside current Huskies!

From classrooms to hallways, the excitement was contagious as they got a true taste of middle school life.

We loved meeting our future Huskies and can’t wait to welcome them back this fall! 💙🐾

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible volunteers from Windermere Peninsula Properties who generously gave their time and energy to help beautify our campus 🌿🏫💙

Each year, Windermere Real Estate sets aside the first Friday in June for their annual Day of Service—closing both their Allyn and Belfair offices so brokers and staff can give back to the communities they serve 🤝✨ We were so fortunate to be one of the recipients of their kindness and hard work this year!

Despite the weather not cooperating 🌧️, these dedicated volunteers showed true resilience and spirit. They were caught in a downpour that temporarily paused their efforts, yet through it all, they kept smiles on their faces 😊 As soon as they could, they were right back outside—working even in the rain—to make a difference for our students and staff 💪🌧️

Your commitment, teamwork, and willingness to serve—even in less-than-ideal conditions—did not go unnoticed 🙌 Because of you, our campus is a more beautiful and welcoming place 🌸🌼

Thank you to each and every one of you for your generosity, enthusiasm, and community spirit. We are truly grateful! 💖👏

🚀 Innovation. Creativity. Leadership. 🚀

Our High School and Hawkins Middle School TSA students recently delivered an outstanding presentation to the Board, showcasing the incredible work they are doing through the Technology Student Association (TSA)! 👏

Students highlighted projects and experiences in areas including 🤖 robotics, 👗 fashion design, and 💙 community fundraising — demonstrating impressive creativity, dedication, and initiative along the way.

Beyond the projects themselves, students shared how TSA has helped them build valuable life skills such as public speaking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These future leaders represented their schools with confidence and pride!

The Board commended the students for their accomplishments and for being such positive representatives of our schools and community. We are so proud of all they have achieved! 🌟

Greeted by building administration, counselors, staff, and the student leadership team, our future sixth graders enjoyed a group presentation in the gym before heading off to tour the school with student leaders. It was a day filled with information and fun for our new group of Huskies! Welcome!

Did you know that June 3rd is World Bicycle Day? Here in NMSD, at this glorious time of year, bicycles are everywhere. As part of the PE program at Hawkins Middle School students have access to a fleet of bikes thank to a grant from Safe Routes to Schools, and the off-season upkeep by retired NMSD employee Thom Worlund. The official theme for World Bicycle Day 2025 is 'Cycling for a Sustainable Future,' signifying the importance of bicycles in fostering healthier habits, decreasing carbon emissions, and promoting a more sustainable planet. Teachers Paula Grande and Jennifer Mathews believe the program greatly enhances the students' experience by promoting: 🚲Physical Fitness: - Promotes cardiovascular health and overall fitness - Helps students stay active and healthy 🚲Teamwork and Social Skills: - Group rides encourages teamwork, communication, and the development of lasting friendships - Develops teamwork and support when students help other students learn to ride 🚲Independence and Confidence - Biking helps students gain confidence in their abilities - Fosters independence - Excitement when a student learn to ride for the first time All these benefits are evident when witnessing the camaraderie and hearing the sounds of laughter in the air while the students are biking around the campus, and a reminder that biking is just plain FUN!

🚒 Students in Ms. Kidd's 6th grade science class were visited by Frefighters Henry and Lechner from North Mason Fire. It was a great opportunity for students to learn first hand from local first responders about wildfires -- how they are caused and how they can be prevented, climate change, and the firefighting profession. Ms. Kidd really appreciated the classroom visit and shared, "We loved having them in for now the 2nd year in a row and hope to continue our partnership." Thank you, Ms. Kidd, for sharing this glimpse into your classroom, and thank you to Firefighters Henry and Lechner for taking the time to make an impact on our students. We appreciate all you do!

Hard work paid off for more than 100 students at HMS today, earning them some free time at the field for completing two math iReady tests per week over the course of a month. This more than doubles the amount who qualified last month. Great job, Huskies!

🕺🎷🚶‍♀️Beautiful Day for a Parade!🥁🚶🏻🎺🚶 Our band students, families, musical directors, and bus drivers had an early start this morning, heading off to compete in the 75th Annual Loyalty Days Parade in Long Beach, WA. Enthusiasm was high during the pre-parade-pep-talk from their music instructors, Chris Drewry and Matt Frost, and there was lots of laughing and joking as parents loaded up the trailer with all the instruments. The bands typically do very well in this competition, amassing many awards through the years they have been participating. We wish you the best of luck!
