Born and raised in Southwest Oklahoma, I moved to the Pacific Northwest after meeting my wife on an airplane in 2001 (true story!).
After teaching in Oklahoma for 4 years, I began my 19 years with the North Mason School District as the the PE teacher at Belfair Elementary. I moved to NMHS in 2004 where I’ve taught weight training, Health and AVID.
I have been the head boys track and field coach for 19 years and coached football for NMHS for many years before resigning in 2015 so I could spend more time with my kids who are growing up way too fast.
Interesting fact: I have been a Bulldog my whole life, having been an Altus High School Bulldog, a Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldog, and now a North Mason Bulldog (and all schools’ colors are blue and white!) Go Bulldogs!
After advocating for AVID with Mr. Collins for many years, I was honored when I was asked to be the first AVID elective instructor when we brought AVID to our district two years ago. I grew up in a household that struggled financially, and was the first in my family to go to college so I know first hand…
My family and I live on the “Bevers Ranch” in Bremerton with our three cats, dog, Flemish Giant bunny, 3 goats, 8 chickens and four ducks (You might say we are animal people.) We also have a big organic vegetable garden.
My kids Evelyn (11) and Keith (9) share my love of track and field and run/throw with the Bremerton Jaguars Track & Field Club. My wife works for the Bremerton School District.
