Mrs. Bowman began her career in education in 1997 as a Social Student and Language Arts teacher at Hawkins Middle School. As a teacher, she supervised Knowledge Bowl and the Associated Student Body (ASB), implemented and coordinated the W.E.B (Where Everybody Belongs) 7th Grade Transition program, and led as an 8th grade Team Leader and Social Studies Content Team Leader.
In 2002, Mrs. Bowman began her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership but temporarily postponed her education at Western Washington University when she was awarded the James Madison Memorial Fellowship to further pursue her interest in Constitutional studies. She returned to her Educational Leadership program in 2004 when she applied for and was hired to become Hawkins Middle School’s Dean of Students.
In 2006, after Mrs. Bowman completed her Master’s degree and earned her Residential Principal’s Certificate, and after agreeing to taking on additional responsibilities at Hawkins Middle School and North Mason High School, she was promoted to Assistant Principal. At the end of the 2006-2007 school year, Mrs. Bowman will have been with Hawkins Middle School for 10 years! She is extremely proud of working in the North Mason School District and feels a lot of ownership for the success of “her” middle school students. They bring her a lot of laughter and joy and keep her feeling young!
